Falana & Falana Challenges Lagos Over Demolitions, Says Court Order Was Ignored

Falana & Falana Chambers has dismissed claims by the Lagos State Attorney General that the government was not served a court order before the latest demolitions in Oworonshoki. The firm said the order, issued on 23 October, was duly served on the Attorney General’s office and relevant agencies the following day, with acknowledged copies on record.

In a statement signed by counsel Taiwo Olanwanle, the firm said demolitions began hours later despite the order. Femi Falana, SAN, reportedly appealed to top officials, including Gbolahan Oki, to halt the operation, but was allegedly told it would proceed and nothing would happen.

The firm described the government’s actions as “lawlessness and impunity,” urging state officials to obey court rulings and safeguard public trust in the justice system.
