Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying its economic policies have worsened living conditions for most Nigerians while benefiting only the rich.
Speaking on a TV interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk, Falana noted that top officials in the All Progressives Congress have celebrated Tinubu’s two years in office, yet ordinary Nigerians face rising costs and deepening economic hardship. He cited the impact of policies like subsidy removal and currency devaluation, which have pushed up food and transport costs.

Falana urged the government to reject economic prescriptions from the IMF and World Bank, and instead prioritise homegrown policies that better address Nigeria’s unique needs. He argued that the devaluation of the naira has driven up prices of goods and services, worsening the cost-of-living crisis.
He also called on Nigerians to demand accountability in budget implementation and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to discourage early political campaigns, stressing that governance should remain the focus.
