Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has filed a $5 million lawsuit against Meta Platforms Incorporated at the Lagos High Court, alleging a violation of his privacy.
Through his lawyer, Olumide Babalola, Mr Falana claims Meta published a video and voice caption titled ‘AfriCare Health Center’ on its platform, Facebook, falsely stating he suffers from prostatitis. He argues this constitutes an invasion of privacy under Section 37 of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution.

The lawsuit describes the publication as “false, misleading, and unfair,” asserting it contravenes Section 24(1)(a) and (e) of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Falana contends the video has tarnished his reputation, built over decades in legal practice.
He is seeking $5 million in general damages and any further relief the court deems appropriate. Meta is yet to respond to the claim
