The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, says more defaulters will have their mining licenses revoked this year.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government had revoked 1,633 mining licenses of those that defaulted in the payment of annual service fees in 2023.

The minister, who was speaking during his New Year Goodwill Message to Nigerians in Lagos yesterday, also said the government’s plans to tackle the menace of insecurity in mining areas alongside the activities of illegal miners is well on course.
He added that in a short while, the result of months of engagement with heads of security agencies will be seen by Nigerians, as the government, he says, is poised to rout those plundering Nigeria’s mineral resources.
