An aid vessel bound for Gaza has requested entry into Maltese waters following a drone attack that left it damaged and without power near the island’s maritime boundary.

The ship, ‘Conscience’, operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, had been preparing to collect 30 international peace activists before attempting to deliver food and medicine to Gaza. The NGO alleges the strike, believed to involve two drones, was carried out by Israel, though no official confirmation has been made.

Talks are ongoing with Maltese authorities, who say repairs will be allowed only after an inspection confirms the vessel carries humanitarian cargo alone.

Prime Minister Robert Abela has indicated Malta is willing to assist, pending verification. Coalition representatives have agreed to the conditions as they seek to resume the mission, which remains under international scrutiny.
