The Palestinian Civil Defence in Rafah has warned of an impending humanitarian disaster as winter storms approach Gaza, threatening tens of thousands of displaced residents. According to the Gaza-based Safa news agency, many families are taking refuge in damaged homes and makeshift tents across al-Mawasi in Khan Younis, the outskirts of Rafah, and along the coast.

Officials say these shelters offer no protection against cold or rain, raising fears of widespread suffering. The Civil Defence has urged international organisations to intervene urgently to prevent what it described as severe humanitarian consequences in the already devastated enclave.
