Golden Eaglets Cruise Past Benin with 4–1 Victory

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets began their WAFU-B U17 Championship campaign in emphatic fashion, sweeping aside Benin 4–1 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire. The result puts them in strong contention for a place at next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Teenager George Agha was the standout performer, netting a first-half hat-trick. Captain David Edeh also scored as Manu Garba’s side established a commanding lead before the break. Benin pulled one back through skipper Jeremy Zannou just before half-time but never mounted a serious challenge in the second period.

The Eaglets managed the game comfortably after the interval, with Garba making changes ahead of Saturday’s decisive group match against Burkina Faso. The convincing victory secures Nigeria’s place in the semi-finals and keeps alive their ambition of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
