Nigeria’s Super Falcons began their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, campaign in commanding fashion on Sunday, defeating Tunisia 3–0 at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca.
Eager to move on from their 2022 semi-final exit to hosts Morocco, the Falcons struck early, with Asisat Oshoala heading home in the third minute from a Babajide free-kick.

Babajide turned scorer just before half-time, doubling Nigeria’s lead with a well-taken finish, before marking her goal with a tribute celebration in honour of late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
Nigeria remained dominant in the second half. Ashleigh Plumptre tested the Tunisian goalkeeper from distance, while Chinwendu Ihezuo eventually made it three with a composed strike in the 80th minute.
The result puts Nigeria in a strong position as the tournament gathers pace.
