The Anambra State Government has ordered the closure of the New Auto Spare Parts Association Market at Nkwo Nnewi for one week over non-compliance with the directive ending the Monday sit-at-home. The shutdown takes effect from midnight on Monday, 23 February 2026, and the market is scheduled to reopen on Monday, 2 March 2026.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, the government said the action followed low compliance with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s order to end the practice. The closure directive was conveyed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, alongside security and local government officials.

The government warned traders and customers to stay away from the market during the closure to avoid enforcement action, adding that further sanctions may follow if compliance does not improve after reopening. It said normal activities have resumed across the state on Mondays since the governor’s directive in late January 2026.
