The House of Representatives has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the naira as it intensifies oversight of the Naira-for-Crude-Oil policy. At an investigative hearing in Abuja, Committee Chairman Boniface Emerengwa said lawmakers are determined to assess how the policy has been implemented and whether it meets its stated objectives.
He stressed that the inquiry is not targeted at any individual or institution but is part of a constitutional duty to safeguard national revenue. Emerengwa called for full cooperation from stakeholders, saying honesty and clarity would allow the Committee to produce an objective and credible report.

He added that the team would not hesitate to expose lapses or violations of due process. The policy, introduced as an economic intervention, aims to stabilise the naira and protect national income.
