I'm Frustrated Michael Olise Plays for France, says Sunday Oliseh

Former Super Eagles captain and coach Sunday Oliseh says he is frustrated that Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise represents France instead of Nigeria. He made the remarks on the Global Football Insights Podcast.

Olise, 24, was born in London to a Nigerian father and a Franco-Algerian mother and was eligible to play for Nigeria, England, Algeria and France. He chose to represent France in 2019 and has since become one of the country’s key attacking players.

Oliseh said he admires the winger’s talent but feels he should be playing for Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles. He clarified that despite their similar surnames, he has no family relationship with the player.

Olise, who plays for Bayern Munich, is expected to feature in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday, after the German side won the first leg 2-1.
