The Independent National Electoral Commission has cleared 2.8 million voters for the Anambra governorship election scheduled for 8 November. The final register was released after a commission meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
INEC commissioner for information and voter education, Sam Olumekun, said 168,187 people registered during the recent voter exercise. After removing invalid or multiple entries, 146,353 new voters were added, bringing Anambra’s total to 2,802,790.

Mr. Olumekun noted that Idemili North has the highest number of voters at 246,318, followed by Awka South with 216,611. The lowest are Dunukofia with 83,580 and Anambra West with 71,332.
He assured voters that permanent voter cards for new registrants, transfers and replacements will be ready for collection before the election. INEC also confirmed it has received 171 applications from associations seeking registration as political parties.
