INEC Reports Over 500,000 Completed Voter Registrations

INEC Establishes AI Division to Strengthen Electoral Process

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed that more than half a million Nigerians have completed their voter registration. Figures released on Monday by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, show 509,929 registrations concluded as of September 12.

Women account for just over 54 percent of the new voters, while young people between 18 and 34 make up nearly three-quarters of the total. Students form the largest occupational group, numbering almost 200,000. Osun leads with the highest number of completed registrations, followed by Lagos and Borno.
