The International Criminal Police Organisation, Interpol, says 651 suspects have been arrested and more than four point three million dollars recovered during a coordinated operation against online fraud across 16 African countries.
Interpol said the operation, codenamed Red Card Two Point Zero, ran from 8 December 2025 to 30 January 2026 and targeted high-yield investment scams, mobile money fraud and fraudulent loan schemes. Investigations linked the network to over 45 million dollars in losses and identified 1,247 victims, most of them in Africa. Officers seized 2,341 devices, disrupted 1,442 malicious IP addresses and dismantled associated domains and servers.
In Nigeria, police dismantled a high-yield investment fraud syndicate, took down more than 1,000 fraudulent social media accounts and arrested six suspects in a separate case involving the alleged infiltration of a telecommunications company’s internal platform to siphon airtime and data for resale.
