JAMB Profile Code Frustrates Candidates As Registration Fee Jumps By 20%

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the new price for 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as candidates lament frustration at registration point.

The exam fee was ₦4,700 last year, including the reading text.

However, in a new video jingle released Monday, the new price for the examination which is valid for only a year is now ₦6,700, with mock exam, while with an exemption to the mock, the exam goes for ₦5,700.

The increase sees an addition of ₦2000 to the exam, which represents a 20 percent hike as economic crisis bites hard.

In a similar development, of only few days after commencement of registration of Friday January 14th multiple candidates have begun underground hitches in the generation of profile codes.

Candidates are to send their NIN to 55109 or 66019 on their mobile phones, upon which a 10 digit profile code out be sent as a reply.

However, some candidates have reported to be between the devil and the deep blue sea as they experience failure in generating codes and deduction of ₦50 was being charged at each SMS.

Here are some comments gathered from response to JAMB’s tweet on exam registration on Tuesday.
