Veteran Juju musician Ahuja Bello has died at the age of 83. His son, Adetunji Bello, confirmed he passed away in the early hours of Sunday, just a day after marking his birthday.
Born Ismaila Dele Bello in Iseyin, Oyo State, in 1942, he rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s as a celebrated Juju singer, guitarist, and band leader.

Bello formed the Golden Eagles Band in 1976, producing several hit songs including ‘Awa ti Danfo’ and ‘Ariya ti de’. In 1979, he recorded ‘Ahuja in London’, where he met international stars such as Bob Marley.
Though his career was cut short by an accident in 1982, Bello remained a respected figure in Nigeria’s music history, admired for his vibrant performances and enduring legacy.
