Katsina allocates N1.5bn to expand Community Watch Corps

The Katsina State Government has approved N1.5 billion for the recruitment of a second batch of its Community Watch Corps to established to combat insecurity.

The state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mu’azu Danmusa, made the announcement on Thursday during a press briefing on the outcome of the 9th regular council meeting chaired by the state governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda.

According to Commissioner Danmusa, the first batch only covers eight local governments, and the second batch will focus on 10 other local governments. This includes; Dutsinma, Kurfi, Charanchi, Musawa, Matazu, Malumfashi, Danja, Kafur, Bakori, and Funtua.

He explained that the expansion of the corps is based on the success of the first batch, which, according to him, has significantly reduced insecurity levels in the eight frontline local government areas.
