All three zonal chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), along with the party’s chairmen in the 21 local government areas of the state.
Speaking on their decision at the Government House in Lokoja yesterday, the former SDP top executives, said they had weighed their options and chosen the continuous development of the state and wellbeing of indigenes above other considerations.

Suleiman Isah, former SDP Zonal Chairman for Kogi East, criticised his former party’s campaign, which he says is based on ethnicity.
Mr Isah described the campaign as detrimental to the state’s socio-cultural wellbeing, and insisted that it could undermine the peace enjoyed in the past few years.
