The Lagos State Police Command has summoned Inspector Obic Modestus following the circulation of a video showing him physically assaulting a driver in broad daylight.
The footage, which surfaced on social media platform X on Monday, captured the officer repeatedly slapping the motorist while shouting aggressively. The incident has since triggered widespread condemnation online.

In response, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Inspector Modestus has been summoned by the Complaint Response Unit and will be transferred to the Provost Department for disciplinary action.
The Police Command, led by Commissioner Olohundare Jimoh, reaffirmed its stance against misconduct, stating that no form of brutality or incivility towards civilians will be tolerated.
Authorities have promised a full internal review, with further action expected in line with the police disciplinary code.
The assaulted driver’s identity has not been disclosed, and investigations are ongoing.
