Alamutu market at Idioro in Mushin area of Lagos has been sealed today by the State Government due to its poor sanitary conditions.
The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made this announcement in a statement on X (formerly Twitter). Meanwhile traders at the popular Ladipo International auto spare parts market, Mushin were in lamentation mode yesterday as they struggled to make ends meet following the closure of the market four days ago.
Wahab had on Friday, September 29, ordered the closure of the market over environmental offences.

These offences, according to Wahab include reckless waste disposal, unhygienic premises and non-payment of waste bills, among others.
He said the market would remain closed until mandatory conditions for reopening were met by the traders and market stakeholders.
The Commissioner added that it was part of the ongoing efforts to enforce compliance in markets around Lagos State.
