Lagos Shifts $3bn Green Line Rail Project to December 2025

The Lagos State Government has postponed the start of construction on its $3 billion Green Line rail project to December 2025. Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the delay follows further feasibility studies and stakeholder consultations along the Lekki–Epe corridor.

The 70-kilometre Green Line will link Marina to the Lekki Free Trade Zone through 17 stations, combining elevated and ground-level tracks. When completed, it will connect key business districts from Victoria Island through Ajah and Sangotedo to Epe.

Construction will be executed in two phases: the first from Lekki First Tollgate to Epe, and the second from Marina, featuring an on-water segment. The project, expected to take two to three years, is part of the state’s broader urban transport expansion.
