Lagos State First To Take Delivery Of Electric Buses For Public Transport

The Lagos government has taken delivery of the first set of electric buses for public transportation in the country.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos, in a statement announcing this, says the vehicles will reduce carbon emissions and increase efficiency, adding that residents can now welcome cost-efficient transportation in the state.

The Lagos governor added that the initiative is a partnership between the state government and Oando Clean Energy Limited.

Speaking about their capacity, governor Sanwo-Olu says the buses can travel 280km at full charge.

He added that taking into account the unique travel times in Lagos, the electric buses are a game-changer. Addressing concerns over capacity, the governor says on average, BRTs cover about 200km per day, so there is no need to fear stoppages during transit.
