The Lagos government has taken delivery of the first set of electric buses for public transportation in the country.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos, in a statement announcing this, says the vehicles will reduce carbon emissions and increase efficiency, adding that residents can now welcome cost-efficient transportation in the state.
The Lagos governor added that the initiative is a partnership between the state government and Oando Clean Energy Limited.

Speaking about their capacity, governor Sanwo-Olu says the buses can travel 280km at full charge.
He added that taking into account the unique travel times in Lagos, the electric buses are a game-changer. Addressing concerns over capacity, the governor says on average, BRTs cover about 200km per day, so there is no need to fear stoppages during transit.
