Legendary Music Executive Clive Davis Dies at 94, Discovered Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen

Clive Davis, the legendary American music executive who discovered and guided some of the most iconic voices in the music industry, has died at the age of 94, passing away on Monday at his home in New York City, US. 

While the exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed, reports indicate that Davis had recently been hospitalised due to an upper respiratory infection and was discharged on June 4 before returning home. 

In a statement, his family described him as the iconic music legend whose vision, instincts, and pursuit of excellence shaped the soundtrack of countless lives, discovering, mentoring, and championing the greatest artists in modern music history. They described him as Dad and Granddaddy, whose steady presence at the centre of their lives provided wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love.

With a career spanning more than six decades, Davis cemented his reputation as one of the most influential executives in modern music history, receiving five Grammy Awards over the course of his career. Davis was best known for his remarkable ability to discover and nurture extraordinary talent, signing many of the defining musicians of the 20th century, including Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin, Santana, Whitney Houston, Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin, Kelly Clarkson, and Aerosmith.
