Leaders of Nigeria’s National Assembly have thrown their weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, declaring the country is firmly on a path of recovery and renewal.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio led the endorsement at the APC National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, acknowledging the difficulties surrounding the 2023 election but insisting the President has since made significant strides.

Flanked by House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Senator Akpabio expressed confidence that Mr Tinubu would win even more states in the 2027 polls, citing a growing national consensus around his leadership.
He described the main opposition, particularly the PDP, as fragmented and ineffective, adding that the President is currently without serious political rivals.
The show of support from National Assembly leadership was unanimous, with no recorded objections during the summit.
