The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has defended its decision to remove historical data from the revised February inflation report, insisting that the final figures remain unaffected.
Concerns over data transparency emerged after the initial report was taken down and re-uploaded without the historical Consumer Price Index, CPI, data. However, in a statement on Tuesday, the bureau’s acting director of communications and public relations, Folorunso Alesanmi, said the adjustment had no impact on the overall inflation outcome.

Reaffirming the agency’s commitment to transparency and data integrity, Mr Alesanmi stressed that the rebased CPI figures remained consistent with earlier estimates.
