NBS Targets July for State GDP Release

The National Bureau of Statistics says it will release Gross Domestic Product data for all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory by July this year. Statistician-General of the Federation, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran, made the announcement at a statistics meeting in Katsina State.

He said the initiative aims to help states better understand their economic size and potential. The data will support sub-national policy planning, attract investment, and guide development programmes.

Prince Adeniran noted that much of the data for the computation had already been gathered during the recent national GDP rebasing exercise. He also thanked Katsina State for its support of statistical development.

Katsina Deputy Governor, Faruk Jobe, who represented Governor Dikko Radda, highlighted hospitality and tourism as key economic sectors. He said ongoing policy reforms were already drawing interest from investors and development partners.
