Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested Lekan Jimoh, a wanted drug kingpin popularly known as Kanmo-Kanmo, 12 years after the murder of three NDLEA officers. The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said Jimoh was apprehended on Friday at his hideout in Owode, Ogun State, following intelligence-led operations, with 69 kilogrammes of skunk and other cannabis strains recovered.
NDLEA said Jimoh had been on the run since June 15, 2014, when he allegedly mobilised armed thugs to attack officers attempting to arrest him, leading to the death of Rabiu Usman Kazaure and two others. The agency added that a previous raid on his residence in Ado-Odo, Ogun State, in August 2023 led to the seizure of 1,922 kilogrammes of skunk, and the property was later forfeited to the Federal Government after court proceedings.
In a nationwide clampdown, NDLEA reported multiple arrests and seizures across states, including Edo, Abuja, Lagos, Delta, Oyo, Kwara, Jigawa and Enugu, involving skunk, tramadol, codeine syrup, cocaine and other illicit substances.
