Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have seized 31.5 kilograms of cocaine from the merchant vessel MV Aruna Hulya at the GDNL terminal in Apapa, Lagos. The ship’s master, Sharma Shashi Bhushan, and 21 other Indian crew members were taken into custody. The vessel reportedly originated from the Marshall Islands.
Earlier, the agency intercepted illicit drugs hidden in coffee sachets and book parcels at a courier company in Lagos. The items, bound for Zambia and the United Kingdom, contained ketamine, ecstasy, and tramadol pills. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the seizures occurred on December 24 and 29, 2025.
In Ibadan, Oyo State, a 65-year-old woman, Fatima Ilori, also known as Mama Kerosine, was arrested following the seizure of 238.4 kilograms of skunk cannabis. She was detained alongside Olusanya Abosede, 35, in an intelligence-led operation. Additional arrests were made in Borno, Jigawa, and Kwara states, where large quantities of skunk, tramadol, and diazepam were recovered.

NDLEA chairman Buba Marwa commended the officers involved and urged personnel to intensify ongoing anti-drug operations.
