Niger To Ban Sale, Consumption Of Alcohol In Nine LGAs

The Niger State government says it will place a ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol in nine Local Government Areas of the state, including Suleja.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Niger State Liquor and Licencing Board, Ibrahim Muhammad Bonu, the state government also announced that the proposed ban would take effect on January 1, 2024.

The Secretary further called on all vendors to abide by the relevant extant laws establishing the Niger State Liquor and Licencing Board.

He also issued a warning to the staff of the board to stay away from illegal activities, as he cautioned them against soliciting for any gratification from operators of beer parlours, threatening that any staff found wanting would be severely dealt with.
