The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has expanded its strategic partnership with China’s General Administration of Customs, with both sides committing to deeper cooperation in training, technology, and institutional reform.
At a high-level meeting in Beijing, senior officials explored avenues for knowledge exchange, modern customs practices, and digital transformation. The Nigerian delegation, led by Assistant Comptroller-General Oluyomi Adebakin, included 21 senior officers.
China showcased its advanced training tools, including VR platforms and 5G-enabled systems. In 2024, it ran over 8,000 training sessions and 360 online courses.

Since 2023, 89 Nigerian officers have benefited from China’s training under a wider African programme.
Chinese officials praised Nigeria’s reforms and noted the global leadership of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi as WCO Council Chair.
New training exchanges, joint research, and participation in Shanghai Customs College are planned, advancing AfCFTA goals and trade facilitation.
