The Federal Government has called on indigenous oil companies to scale up production to meet rising domestic and export demands.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, made the appeal in Abuja during a meeting with executives from Renaissance Africa Energy. He noted Nigeria’s strong human capital in oil and gas, describing it as the most skilled on the continent.

With national output stagnating at 1.5 million barrels per day, well below the 2025 budget target of 2.1 million, Lokpobiri expressed optimism that the transfer of assets from international oil firms to Nigerian operators would enhance production, citing the benefit of decision-making being brought closer to home.
