Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is calling for a change in Nigeria’s security architecture, saying the current system is not working and has a grave impact on food inflation.
Speaking during a Channels TV show, the President of the LCCI, Gabriel Idahosa, said Gunmen have targeted farmers mostly in the northern region of the country, kidnapping and killing many of them. This is also in addition to several security issues bedevilling Nigeria.
These incidents, he says, are part of the reasons for food inflation in Nigeria. He adds that inflation now has two major drivers, namely transportation and food, with food being the primary driver.
He also adds that to deal with food inflation, we need farmers to go to their farms every day, and in safety. If we cannot make this happen, he says food inflation is guaranteed.
