The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, has attributed the increase to market forces.
Addressing journalists after a closed-door meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima at the State House, Abuja, Mr. Kyari said the price increase was caused by the market regulating itself.

He noted that the price of petrol will go up, and sometimes will come down.
Mr Kyari also debunked notions that the price increase is due to a shortfall in petrol supply.
