The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has clarified that no merger deal has been reached with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), or any other party ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Obi called on Nigerians to unite against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of mismanaging the country’s resources. He also urged political stakeholders to join forces in creating a better future for Nigeria.

Obi described the country’s security situation as dire, lamenting the frequent loss of lives to banditry, terrorism, and kidnappings. He also criticised the high level of corruption, wasteful foreign trips by government officials, and rising public debt under the APC-led administration.
The former Anambra State governor stressed the need for prudent management of Nigeria’s resources to address these challenges and build a prosperous nation.
