Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to ensure transparency and accountability in the operations of the newly commissioned Port Harcourt Refinery. Mr. Obi emphasised the importance of providing Nigerians with clarity about the facility’s management and production processes.

The Port Harcourt Refining Company Ltd, which reopened for business on Tuesday after several failed deadlines, boasts an installed production capacity of 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

Reacting to the development, Obi commended NNPCL for achieving this milestone but stressed that accountability is key to ensuring public trust and operational efficiency. He described the refinery’s revival as a positive step for Nigeria’s energy sector, given the country’s heavy reliance on oil.
