The Arewa Consultative Forum says Northern Nigeria will only support candidates in the 2027 general elections who are committed to protecting and promoting the region’s interests.
Chairman of the Forum’s Board of Trustees, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, made the declaration on Wednesday at the board’s meeting in Kaduna. He emphasised that the North’s loyalty would not lie with any political figure or party, but with those who genuinely care about the region’s development and welfare.

Dalhatu highlighted the North’s numerical strength and political leverage, calling for unity among stakeholders to overcome the region’s challenges. He also expressed concern over early political alignments, warning that premature politicking undermines governance.
The Forum disclosed that it is considering setting up a committee to review the performance of public officials and assess how government policies and projects have impacted the North.
