Odumodublvck Defends Rap Style, Says Critics Are ‘Intimidated’ by His Success

Nigerian hip-hop star Odumodublvck has hit back at critics of his style, insisting they are simply “intimidated” by his rise.

In an interview, the rapper, whose real name is Tochukwu Ojogwu, described his 2023 breakout track ‘Declan Rice’ as the most culturally significant Nigerian hip-hop song globally.

He claimed the track, which Arsenal used to unveil midfielder Declan Rice last July, remains the club’s biggest digital asset on social media.

Odumodublvck also cited his versatility, referencing his verse on ‘Good Devil Wells White’, and said his music crosses languages—from English to Patois.

He challenged critics to name a more impactful Nigerian rap line in recent decades, describing the pushback against his sound as unfair.

Dismissing claims that he isn’t a ‘real rapper,’ the Abuja-born artist called such remarks “fallacious” and accused detractors of ingratitude.
