The Ogun State Government has issued a fresh warning to cattle owners and herders, reminding them that the law banning open grazing remains fully in effect.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, said the 2021 law—signed by Governor Dapo Abiodun—will be enforced without hesitation, especially in light of ongoing traffic disruptions and damage to farmlands caused by open grazing.

The Animal Grazing Regulation and Cattle Ranch Establishment Law prescribes a minimum three-year jail term without option of fine, along with forfeiture of livestock, for anyone grazing outside designated ranches.
The law was introduced to curb violent clashes between herders and farmers and to modernise livestock management.
Officials say the state remains committed to upholding the legislation to protect lives, farmland, and public infrastructure.
