A group of youths from Ondo State have protested at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Abuja, calling for the removal of the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Oluwatoyin Babalola, ahead of the November 16, 2024, governorship election.
In a viral video, the protesters were seen carrying drums and placards with messages such as “Mahmood: Redeploy Babalola Now” and “We Don’t Want a Repeat of Edo Fiasco,” as they demanded a meeting with INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
The demonstrators expressed concerns about potential electoral issues, urging the commission to take immediate action to avoid a repeat of past controversies.
