The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) has sealed 486 medicine premises in Niger State for regulatory violations including operating without licences, engaging unqualified staff, and the unauthorised sale of controlled drugs.
The Head of Enforcement, Suleiman Ciroma, told journalists in Minna that the action followed a week-long exercise across nine local government areas. He said one person was arrested for obstructing inspectors and will be prosecuted.

Ciroma explained that 672 premises were inspected, out of which 69 pharmacies, 127 patent medicine shops, and 290 unlicensed outlets were shut. He urged the public to always verify displayed licences before patronising operators.
The enforcement team also uncovered illegal clinical practices, sales of controlled medicines, and unapproved training of apprentices. Mr. Ciroma assured that nationwide efforts will continue to sanitise the pharmaceutical sector and protect public health.
