Police Arraign Ogun PDP Gubernatorial Candidate For Money Laundering

The Federal Government has amended the charges filed against the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, and nine others before a State High Court in Abeokuta.

The charges were amended to accommodate and arraign Mr. Adebutu in a suit instituted in July, 2023, on allegations of financial inducement of voters during the March 18 election.

Nine other defendants were arraigned by the Federal Government in July, 2023 with the exception of Adebutu who was reportedly out of the country.

When the court resumed hearing today, Counsel to the Federal Government, Rotimi Jacobs told the court that the charge had been amended having served Adebutu who is a major defendant in the case.

Counsel to the defendant, Gordy Uche, SAN, sought and was granted bail for Mr. Adebutu on self-recognizance. Justice Akinyemi, who granted bail in the sum of N1m and one surety, adjourned the case till Wednesday (tomorrow) for trial.
