The Ekiti State Police Command says it has arrested eight suspects over the recent killing of two traditional rulers as well as the abduction of some pupils in the state.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abutu Sunday, said the suspects were arrested during a joint operation which was carried out through Emure-Ekiti Forest, Ise/Ogbese Forest to Emure-Ile Forest in Ondo State.
He noted that the operation involved police operatives, Amotekun corps, vigilantes, local hunters, members of Agbekoya Group as well as Policemen and Amotekun Corps from Ondo State.
According to him, the suspects, who are currently undergoing investigation, are giving credible information that could lead to the arrest of other fleeing suspects that perpetrated the acts.
Recall that on January 29, gunmen killed two Ekiti monarchs; the Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin.
A school bus was also attacked resulting in the abduction of five pupils of the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, three teachers, and the bus driver. The student and teacher have since been released, but sadly, the driver was killed.
