Qatar Says It Arrested Iranian IRGC Sleeper Cells

Qatar’s authorities say they have arrested two groups of suspects linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps operating inside the State of Qatar. Officials said a total of ten people were detained on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following surveillance and security operations in Doha and other areas.

According to the Qatar News Agency, seven of the suspects were tasked with gathering intelligence on vital and military facilities in the country while three were allegedly assigned to carry out sabotage operations, including training in the use of drones. Security officials said they found coordinates of sensitive sites, communication devices and other equipment in the possession of the suspects.

Investigators said the detainees acknowledged their affiliation with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the missions they had been given. The Qatari State Security Service has urged citizens and residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities, as part of efforts to safeguard national security.

The arrests add to a period of escalating tensions in the Gulf region, where Qatar has faced multiple attacks by Iranian forces since the outbreak of a wider conflict that began this month involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
