The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission has begun a nationwide data verification exercise aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s revenue allocation framework. The exercise will review the factors used in sharing revenue among states and local governments to reflect current socio-economic realities.
Chairman of the commission, Mohammed Bello Shehu, says the initiative is designed to ensure fairness, transparency and equity in the distribution of national resources. He says accurate and verified data is essential for effective fiscal planning and national development.
According to the commission, the exercise will be conducted across all states and the Federal Capital Territory, involving the collection and validation of key data on education, health, infrastructure and internal revenue generation. It will also include stakeholder engagement sessions to promote transparency and collaboration.
