Nigerian media personality Roby Ekpo has denied allegations of defamation made by his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, following a cease and desist notice issued against him. The notice gave him 48 hours to retract statements made during an interview and to pay N100 million in damages. The dispute stems from remarks he made about their failed marriage during an appearance on a podcast.
In response, Ekpo’s legal team issued a counter notice rejecting the claims and maintaining that his statements were based on personal experience and his understanding of events. His counsel argued that the allegations against him are disputed and would be challenged through appropriate legal channels. The defence also indicated that there is evidence available to counter several of the claims raised.
Ekpo’s lawyers described the financial demand as excessive and without merit, adding that the 48-hour ultimatum was unreasonable given the complexity of the issues involved. They stated that their client would not comply with the demands and is prepared to defend himself in court if legal action is pursued. The legal team also signalled the possibility of counterclaims, including allegations of harassment and reputational harm.

The response further advised that all future communication should be handled through legal representatives to ensure due process. Ekpo’s counsel maintained that he remains open to a lawful resolution but will not be pressured into concessions. The case highlights an escalating legal dispute that could proceed to court if both parties fail to reach an agreement.
