The United Arab Emirates also voted against the resolution. Ten members voted in favour and two abstained.

Twenty minutes later, Russia and China’s resolution urging “humanitarian ceasefire” & unhindered aid into Gaza also failed at the security council with only China, Gabon, Russia and the UAE voting yes. The US and UK voted against the resolution, while other members, Albania, Brazil,Ecuador, France, Ghana, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, Switzerland abstained.
The failure of both US and Russian resolutions underline the deeply divided nature of the world body over the Israel-Palestine war.
