Safety Concerns: Lagos Shuts Jetty Over Safety Concerns

The Lagos State Government has suspended ferry operations at the Ipakodo, Ikorodu Terminal over safety concerns.

Speaking over the weekend, the General Manager of the Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, Damilola Emmanuel, said the measure became necessary in order to prevent avoidable disasters that could lead to boat mishaps following large numbers of water hyacinth along the jetty.

He added that the Ibeshe Terminal and Majidun Jetty are open for use as alternatives during this period, and that the government intends to open another Jetty shortly in the Ikorodu axis before the end of the Year.
