The Federal Government has declared Thursday, 1 May, a public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day celebration. The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the holiday on behalf of the government in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Dr Tunji-Ojo commended Nigerian workers for their diligence and sacrifice, recognising their efforts as key contributors to the country’s development and its standing in the international community. He stressed that their commitment is vital to nation-building and called on workers to adopt a culture of innovation and productivity.

The minister urged workers to continually improve their skills to help strengthen governance and ensure all citizens benefit from the country’s resources. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the security of lives and property across the country.
Wishing workers a happy celebration, Dr Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring them that the Tinubu administration remains dedicated to delivering on its Renewed Hope Agenda.
