The Nigerian Senate is calling for urgent military action following a renewed wave of deadly attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in Borno and Yobe states.
On Tuesday, lawmakers unanimously passed a resolution urging the military to redeploy personnel and advanced equipment to the North-East. This follows the killing of over a dozen soldiers in Marte town on Monday and another attack on Gajiram in Nganzai Local Government early Tuesday.
Raising the motion, Senate Chief Whip Tahir Munguno noted that although joint efforts had reclaimed territory previously held by insurgents, the tactical command was later shifted to the North-West due to growing banditry.

The Senate expressed alarm over Boko Haram’s evolving tactics, including the use of drones and improvised explosive devices, and called for better military technology and rapid intervention.
Meanwhile, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has condemned the attacks, which also claimed the lives of two education officials on the Maiduguri-Damboa Road. He described the acts as “deeply condemnable” and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting the military and volunteer forces.
