Six Killed in Fatal Lekki–Epe Highway Crash

Six Killed in Fatal Lekki–Epe Highway Crash

Six people, including a child, have died in a road accident at Ibeju Bus Stop on the Lekki–Epe Expressway. Nine others were injured when a truck carrying wooden planks collided with a commercial bus, while four passengers escaped unhurt.

Emergency responders from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the Federal Road Safety Corps, police, and neighbourhood safety officials worked together to rescue survivors and restore order. The injured were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Epe and Hammond Hospital, while the deceased were moved to the FMC morgue for identification.

Traffic officials confirmed that reckless driving was to blame. LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the families, warning motorists against overspeeding and urging greater caution during the busy Ember Months.

Authorities say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
